1.Dry skin

Dry skin feels tight and uncomfortable almost immediately after cleansing. Your skin feels somewhat flakey and can look dull. Use a soft cleanser.

- Choose soft, creamy and non-foamy cleansers with nourishing properties. Foaming cleansers break down the natural skin oils, lipids and proteins that are so important for the protection of the skin. When this natural barrier is weakened, moisture evaporates from the skin in a quicker rate. Cleansing oils are perfect for dry skin.

- Avoid too warm water and use lukewarm water.

- Exfoliate moderately.

- Apply moisturizer with highly nourishing properties right after cleansing to immediately start strengthening the skin’s natural protective barrier. This encloses most of the moist.

2.Normal skin

Normal skin is such a blessing and is easy to care for. Your skin looks smooth, even, has almost invisible pores and little to no lines.

- Cleanse at least once a day, using a mild cleanser.

- Don’t use too warm water.

- Care with a hydrating product of choice.

- Every type of skin needs some extra love and attention - even normal skin - so, exfoliate and apply a nourishing mask regularly.

3.Combined skin

Combined skin has both dry spots (often cheeks) and greasy areas (often the T-zone). Greasier areas often have visible pores and inflammations and become shinier during the day. It needs different special care.

- Choose mild cleansers with a gel or lotion structure. These won’t dry out already dry parts but rid the greasier parts of dirt and makeup sufficiently.

- Exfoliate the T-zone regularly to degrease locally.

- Apply a hydrating moisturizer right after cleansing; to care for the dryer parts and to hydrate without making the skin greasier.

- Tip: try multi-masking by applying a nourishing mask on dry parts and a deep cleansing mask on greasier parts simultaneously.

4.Greasy skin

Greasy skin looks shiny with visible pores and irregularities. After cleansing your skin feels tight for just a brief amount of time and becomes shiny quickly after.

- Cleanse twice a day using a mild cleanser that easily dissolves with water. Like a foaming facewash, and avoid oil-based cleansers.

- Use an alcohol-free toner that’s rich in antioxidants. This helps to balance the skin, diminish the visibility of pores, remove final traces of dirt and prevent clogging. The skin looks smoother.

- Exfoliate regularly, at least once a week. For greasy skin, this is the best way to get rid of dead skin cells and declog pores.

- Choose light, hydrating facial care products that have a gel structure for instance.

5.Sensitive skin

Your skin is sensitive when it easily shows redness, spots, rashes, itching and irregularities. Creams and makeup often give a burning sensation and after cleansing, your skin feels tight and uncomfortable. Weather influences can cause irritation.

- Cleanse your skin as less as possible. Preferably in the morning with only water and with a mild non-foamy cleanser in the evenings that easily dissolves with water.

- Milky substances and cleansing oils are very suitable.

- Immediately moisturize the skin after cleansing, preferably when still moist.

Extra tip

Dry brushing is another way to remove dirt and open pores, but it does so much more. Dry brushing stimulates blood circulation, lymphatic drainage and cel renewal while the massaging movements make skin firmer and more supple. Dry brushing is suitable for all skin types, except sensitive skin. It’s prefect to add to your regular cleansing ritual. Dry brushing in the morning - in between cleansing and moisturizing - is a perfect way to ‘wake-up’ your skin.
